Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services field and one-year experience in residential treatment is preferred, OR Associate’s degree or (sixty) 60 credit hours from an accredited college/university and three (3) years’ work experience with children.
  • Supervisory experience is also preferred.
  • At least twenty-one (21) years of age
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • Physical exams that include TB and drug testing.
  • Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
  • Satisfactory completion of background screening and applicable pre-employment checks, including but not limited to employment and/or personal reference and driving records.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist individuals as needed
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct the activities of a specific treatment unit, including providing supervision to staff assigned to the unit.
  • Ensure that all Abraxas policies and procedures are followed.
  • Serve as the primary role model for employees by leading, directing, guiding and supporting them in such a way that promotes their growth and development.
  • Maintain employee schedules that provide adequate coverage to ensure safety for both clients and employees.
  • Develop and implement systems to organize and monitor work activities.
  • Structure, implement, and facilitate new employee on-the-job orientation.
  • Conduct effective supervisory conferences and performance evaluations with employees, document the content of such meetings and evaluations, and provide feedback to them.
  • Schedule employee training to ensure that all mandatory training requirements are met.
  • Provide ongoing effective supervision to unit employees and monitor case management activities.
  • Guide, mentor, and supervise youth and employees effectively.
  • Interact with and supervise clients during daily activities in a manner that ensures their safety and security.
  • Maintain regular communication with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Provide effective facility security including conducting headcounts, room checks and observing client movement.
  • Observe client behavior and intervene appropriately.
  • Process intakes and screen clients according to program policy.
  • Observe activities and respond accordingly including emergency situations including evacuation, CPR, or first aid.
  • Facilitate and document various groups or meetings; monitor the documentation process to ensure all services are documented as necessary each shift.
  • Provide structured behavioral interventions to reduce maladaptive behaviors and increase positive, adaptive skills.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and structured environment at all times.
  • Use trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, and culturally responsive approaches.
  • Accurately observe and document client behaviors, progress, and responses to interventions.
  • Collect and document behavioral data in accordance with program and regulatory standards.
  • Be included in daily staffing ratio to assist in effective programming for all youth.
  • Complete daily notes, incident reports, and other required documentation within required timeframes.
  • Utilize approved crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques when necessary.
  • Follow all safety protocols related to self-harm, aggression, and behavioral escalation.
  • Report safety concerns, incidents, or changes in client status immediately to supervisory/leadership staff.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, supervision, and required training.
  • Support family engagement as directed by the treatment team.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and agency policies.
  • Follow all Pennsylvania mandated reporter requirements.
  • Maintain active certification, clearances, and required ongoing training.
  • Comply with program/facility safety systems and building security.
  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance with current departmental practices.
  • Support the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promote the Seven Key Principles of care.
  • Demonstrate appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques and skills.
