About The Position

The Treatment Nurse provides nursing care to residents in a post-acute, skilled nursing, or long-term care setting. The role administers prescribed medications and treatments, monitors and documents residents’ responses and changes in condition, and maintains medical records according to policy. The Treatment Nurse also educates residents and families, helps plan and supervise C.N.T. work, and supports safe, infection-controlled care practices.

Requirements

Current license from a State Board of Nursing as an R.N. or L.P.N.
Ability to lead and motivate subordinates.
Ability to perform varied duties and adapt to frequent changes, including a work schedule that may change daily.
Ability to work closely with residents, physicians, and staff.
Ability to work according to prescribed nursing standards.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Interest in performing a service.

Responsibilities

Administer prescribed medications orally and by injection.
Provide treatments to residents according to physician orders.
Observe residents’ reactions to medications and treatments.
Ensure medications and controlled substances are properly handled and stored.
Observe, record, and report services provided.
Report changes in a resident’s condition to the supervisor and attending physician.
Document that medications and treatments were administered or provided, as required by policy.
Maintain residents’ medical records through documentation, as required by policy.
Educate residents and families regarding care.
Assist in planning, supervising, and instructing C.N.T.’s.
Assign daily work to help ensure positive outcomes for residents.
Implement and maintain policies and procedures.
Ensure safe work practices and proper infection-control techniques are used.
