About The Position

The Treatment Nurse administers prescribed medications, provides treatments in accordance with physician orders, monitors residents’ responses, and documents and reports care provided. The role maintains safe medication handling, infection control, and workplace practices while supporting residents and their families through education. The nurse also helps plan, supervise, and instruct C.N.T.’s, assigns daily work, and implements and maintains policies and procedures. Diversicare provides post-acute care at skilled nursing and long-term care centers and emphasizes compassionate, safe, professional service.

Requirements

Current State Board of Nursing license as an R.N. or L.P.N.
Ability to lead and motivate subordinates.
Ability to perform varied duties amid frequent change; the work schedule may change daily.
Ability to work intimately with residents, physicians, and staff.
Ability to work to prescribed nursing standards.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Interest in performing a service.

Responsibilities

Administer prescribed medications orally and by injection.
Provide treatments to residents according to physician orders.
Observe residents’ reactions to medications and treatments.
Ensure proper handling and storage of medications and controlled substances.
Observe, record, and report services provided.
Report changes in residents’ conditions to the supervisor and attending physician.
Sign off that medications and treatments were given or provided, as required by policy.
Maintain residents’ medical records through required documentation.
Educate residents and families regarding care.
Assist in planning, supervising, and instructing C.N.T.’s.
Assign daily work assignments to support positive outcomes for residents.
Implement and maintain policies and procedures.
Ensure safe work practices and proper infection control techniques are used.
