About The Position

The Treatment Nurse LPN provides nursing care to residents in a post-acute, skilled nursing, and long-term care setting. The role administers prescribed medications and treatments, monitors residents’ responses, documents care, and reports changes in condition to the supervisor and attending physician. The nurse also provides education to residents and families, helps direct and instruct C.N.T.’s, and supports safe work practices, infection control, and implementation of facility policies and procedures.

Requirements

Current license from the State Board of Nursing as an R.N. or L.P.N.
Ability to lead and motivate subordinates.
Ability to perform varied duties amid frequent changes to the daily work schedule.
Ability to work closely with residents, physicians, and staff.
Ability to work according to prescribed nursing standards.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Interest in performing a service.

Responsibilities

Administer prescribed medications orally and by injection.
Provide treatments to residents according to physician orders.
Observe residents’ reactions to medications and treatments.
Ensure proper handling and storage of medications and controlled substances.
Observe, record, and report all services provided.
Report changes in residents’ conditions to the supervisor and attending physician.
Document that medications and treatments were provided as required by policy.
Maintain residents’ medical records through documentation as required by policy.
Educate residents and families regarding care.
Assist in planning, supervising, and instructing C.N.T.’s.
Assign daily work to help ensure positive resident outcomes.
Implement and maintain policies and procedures.
Ensure safe work practices and proper infection control techniques are used.
