About The Position

CoreCivic is seeking a Treatment Counselor to support treatment and recovery for program participants. The role interviews and assesses prospective participants, gathers information using screening and assessment instruments and collateral sources, and identifies individual and group needs. The counselor facilitates individual and group treatment interventions in accordance with partner-agency requirements and applicable regulations, statutes, policies, and procedures. The position also supports participant engagement and ongoing recovery, maintains confidential clinical files, and documents treatment plans and participant progress.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related field; additional qualifying experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
• One year of experience in the mental health or substance use counseling field.
• Appropriate licensure or certification, where applicable.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Interview and assess prospective program participants and gather information using appropriate screening and assessment instruments and collateral sources.
• Establish rapport with participants and determine individual and group needs based on assessment results.
• Facilitate individual and group treatment interventions in accordance with partner-agency requirements and applicable state regulations, statutes, policies, and procedures.
• Use standardized offender assessment information to develop treatment plans or specific programs.
• Encourage participant engagement and promote positive attitudes, skills, and coping mechanisms for ongoing recovery.
• Plan participant incentives and use appropriate therapeutic tools to manage behavioral issues or concerns.
• Maintain confidential clinical files, including intake documents, assessments, interviews, treatment plans and reviews, progress notes, discharge summaries, and referrals, according to written protocols and applicable laws and regulations.
• Document and track treatment plans, monitor participant progress, and review participant status to verify completion of treatment and therapeutic programs.
