About The Position

The Treatment Assistant works under general supervision to assist in fabricating age-specific (infant, toddler, preschooler, school-age, adolescent, young adult, middle adult, later adult) devices for therapeutic radiation as ordered by a physician to assist in the treatment of cancer patients. Performs any combination of the following duties depending on the assigned area. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Be able to assist the Radiation Therapist in setting up the patient in the treatment rooms. Be able to lift patient immobilization devices and beam shaping devices that can weigh up to 60 lbs. for the patient set up and treatment. Assist the Therapist in keeping the room supplies stocked and ready for use. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • No experience required.
  • Able to read.
  • Able to write legibly.
  • Able to speak in English with professional quality.
  • Able to use computer and software programs necessary to the position.
  • Able to troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others.
  • Able to be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies.
  • Able to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.
  • Able to lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate.
  • Able to accept direction.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone.

  • Able to discern temperature variances through touch.
