About The Position

The purpose of the role is to provide administrative, analytical, and operational support to traders, enabling them to focus on their core responsibilities such as the analysis of markets, execution of trades, and management of risk. The Assistant Vice President (AVP) Expectations include advising and influencing decision-making, contributing to policy development, and taking responsibility for operational effectiveness. This role involves collaborating closely with other functions/business divisions, leading a team performing complex tasks, and setting objectives and coaching employees. For an individual contributor, they will lead collaborative assignments and guide team members, identify the need for other specializations, and identify new directions for assignments or projects. They will consult on complex issues, provide advice to People Leaders, identify ways to mitigate risk, and develop new policies/procedures. The role requires performing work closely related to other areas, understanding how areas coordinate, and collaborating with other areas for business-aligned support. This involves engaging in complex analysis of data from multiple sources, communicating complex information, and influencing or convincing stakeholders. It combines hands-on trade execution responsibilities with ownership of analytical, planning, and management reporting processes that inform treasury decision-making. The AVP partners closely with business units, corporate planning, and governance forums to deliver accurate forecasts, pricing insights, and performance reporting. Requirements

  • Experience in banking, finance, or accounting with a solid understanding of treasury functions such as funding, liquidity, transfer pricing, and capital markets
  • Analytical capability with advanced Excel skills to support forecasting, cost of funds analysis, position management, and ad hoc deliverables
  • Ability to execute and support financial trades with strong attention to detail, process discipline, and ownership of controls and documentation

Nice To Haves

  • Prior exposure to treasury forecasting models, cost of funds analysis, funds transfer pricing, and trade support in a regulated financial institution
  • Experience preparing materials for senior management or governance committees (e.g., ALCO) and responding to audit or regulatory requests
  • Communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across business, planning, and treasury teams while demonstrating the Barclays Values and Mindset

Responsibilities

  • Receive, validate, and process orders from traders, ensuring accuracy and adherence to trading guidelines, and monitoring of order status to communicate updates to traders and counterparties.
  • Diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution of trading platform issues, connectivity problems, and application errors.
  • Work collaboratively with IT teams to address complex technical issues.
  • Support to traders in monitoring and management of market risk, credit risk, and operational risk including the preparation and maintenance of reports on trading risk exposure and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Management of the bank's trading calendar, ensuring that traders are aware of upcoming market events, economic data releases, and regulatory changes.
  • Market research and analysis to identify potential trading opportunities and support traders' trading strategies, and preparation of market reports and presentations for traders and senior colleagues.
  • Due diligence on counterparties and verify their trading credentials, and monitoring of trading activity for any potential compliance breaches or suspicious transactions.
  • Contribute to the effective management of the firm’s funding, liquidity, and balance sheet strategy.
