About The Position

This role partners with AEP business units to develop and execute comprehensive financing strategies, with a focus on optimizing capital structure, managing cost of capital within regulated rate frameworks, and supporting the maintenance of strong subsidiary credit ratings. The position is also responsible for designing and delivering clear, compelling communications to executives, our Board of Directors and employees on financial planning, performance outcomes, and key corporate finance initiatives. Success in this role requires demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking, and the effective application of capital markets expertise to strengthen the company’s overall financial position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field with solid understanding of financial theory.
  • Treasury Analyst Principal (Salary Grade 9): 4 years' direct experience in banking, corporate finance, treasury, or 6 years of peripheral experience in these areas through other disciplines relevant to this job role such as through work within a utility regulatory department or accounting roles adjacent to finance responsibilities.
  • Treasury Lead (Salary Grade 10): 6 years' direct experience in banking, corporate finance, treasury, or 8 years of peripheral experience in these areas through other disciplines relevant to this job role such as through work within a utility regulatory department or accounting roles adjacent to finance responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the execution of corporate financing/treasury activities for the AEP System, including the issuance of term loans, secured or unsecured bonds, project financing, leases, and other financing instruments.
  • Support AEP’s financial planning process by performing analysis and finance-related inputs impactful to subsidiary company budgeting and financial projections.
  • Provide and support testimony in rate cases and regulatory legal proceedings, including the development of work papers to support cost of capital and cost of debt in rate cases and other various regulatory discovery requests.
  • Actively participate in ongoing rating agency dialogue and preparation of analysis as support when responding to credit rating agency requests.
  • Analyze strategies to meet AEP System financial liquidity needs and working capital needs.
  • Assist with coordination and communication with banking partners.
  • Manage financial counterparties and work with internal stakeholders to administer leasing contracts and AEP's leasing program.
  • Support financial reporting through communication of finance activity and preparation of certain required disclosure.
  • Support corporate governance by performance of procedures in accordance with internal controls and completion of required procedures for Sarbanes-Oxley 404 compliance.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities.
  • Actively and effectively collaborate and communicate within the Corporate Finance and Treasury Operations teams.
  • Contribute to development of the Corporate Finance analyst team through coaching and support.
