About The Position

CareVet is seeking experienced traveling Veterinarians to practice throughout the state of Missouri. This program offers flexibility without sacrificing clinical quality, earning potential, or support, similar to travel nursing but for DVMs. Full and part-time options are available, with customizable schedules like 2 weeks on/2 weeks off (averaging 20 hours/week) or 3 weeks on/1 week off. The role involves rotating across high-performing hospitals in Missouri, experiencing diverse practice styles and caseloads, supported by the CareVet network. Hospitals are equipped with modern diagnostics and treatment capabilities, prioritizing clinical autonomy. Traveling DVMs are supported by experienced technicians and collaborative teams, with a high retention rate.

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required
• Licensure in the state/s candidate will be working
• Ability to show compassion to both pets and their owners
• Outstanding dexterity in handling animals while performing precise tasks
• Ability to react quickly and make decisions under pressure about the wellbeing of an animal
• Strong fondness and understanding of animals
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of animal behavior
• Ability to use medical technologies during diagnosis, research and surgery of animals

Responsibilities

• Examine animals to assess their health and diagnose problems
• Treat and dress wounds
• Perform surgery on animals
• Test for and vaccinate against diseases
• Operate medical equipment, such as x-ray machines
• Advise animal owners about general care, medical conditions, and treatments
• Prescribe medication
• Work closely in collaboration with team members to provide high quality care
