About The Position

As a leading mechanical contractor serving the Southeast and Midwest, Batchelor & Kimball partners with clients to deliver excellent results from engineering and construction to operations and maintenance. They offer design/build and turnkey construction services, including teaming with subcontractor partners. This is a Senior Project Management position responsible for leading efforts for large projects or several projects at one time. The role requires a candidate with strong experience in Mechanical Construction projects and the willingness to travel to areas where Batchelor & Kimball has projects. Candidates must meet expectations and be able to work independently with minimal oversight. Train estimating staff on technical aspects of Project Management
Understand company resource production capabilities and implement in the construction process, i.e., daily coordinating with Superintendent
Professionally solicit vendors and suppliers during the procurement process
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or 10 + years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Construction Management, Construction Science, Mechanical Engineering, or similar degree highly preferred
Minimum of 4 years leading large multi-million-dollar complex construction projects

Responsibilities

Lead and consult with field project managers, general contractors (GCs) and owners, nurturing successful relationships to ensure project success.
Manage the pre-construction, preplanning, and construction project scheduling process.
Leverage strong relationships with GCs to grow the Batchelor and Kimball Business.
Manage subcontractors successfully to ensure project timelines and budget.
Take ownership and accountability for projects under their direction.
Solve complex problems relating to project schedule and budget as an active member of the project team.
Review and approve project budgets (labor, material, and subcontractors) to determine allocation of resources (manpower, equipment, and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations.
Negotiate and create subcontractor contracts with external vendors to reach agreements beneficial to the project.
Manage project finances including profitability and cash flow.
Work and provide indirect leadership to construction crews.
Be actively involved in design conflict and resolution for all trades, collaborating with engineers, architects, etc., to determine project specifications.
Lead strategic planning and project submittal, request for information, and change order process.
Implement monthly cost reports and accurate cost projections.
Recognize and resubmit change orders as necessary.
Approve payment supplier and subcontractor invoices.
Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues.
Project, identify, and manage CAD, fabrication, and field labor resources required.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
