About The Position

The Traveling Safety Technician provides safety, health, environmental, and compliance support across Beck & Pollitzer project sites throughout the United States. This position serves as a traveling field resource responsible for conducting site observations, safety inspections, compliance reviews, and behavioral-based safety assessments to verify company standards, client requirements, and regulatory expectations are being met. The Traveling Safety Technician works closely with project managers, supervisors, site safety professionals, subcontractors, and craft personnel to identify hazards, recognize positive safety behaviors, coach employees, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This position promotes Beck & Pollitzer’s Observe, Coach & Guide philosophy while assisting project teams in maintaining safe and compliant work environments. The Traveling Safety Technician is not responsible for direct project management or supervision of personnel but serves as a resource to support operational excellence, hazard recognition, injury prevention, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard recognition, incident prevention, and risk management principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to identify unsafe conditions and behaviors.
  • Ability to provide effective coaching and corrective guidance when required.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple assignments, travel schedules, and competing priorities.

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, climb ladders and stairs, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work in varying industrial environments.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, fall protection equipment, and respirators.
  • This position requires the abiity to read, write, and speak fluent English.

Nice To Haves

  • associate or bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in industrial construction, millwright work, rigging, electrical, piping, ironwork, maintenance, or related skilled trades is strongly preferred.
  • OSHA 510 preferred but not required.
  • Experience supporting multiple job sites and traveling project environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safety guidance and support to project managers, supervisors, site safety professionals, subcontractors, and craft personnel across multiple project locations.
  • Travel extensively throughout the United States to provide on-site safety support, project assessments, and temporary site coverage as required.
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled project site visits to evaluate compliance with company safety programs, client requirements, and applicable OSHA regulations.
  • Review Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs), Safety Task Analysis (STAs), risk assessments, permits, and pre-task plans to verify hazards have been identified and appropriate controls are in place.
  • Monitor compliance in high-risk activities including fall protection, confined space entry, lockout/tagout (LOTO), crane and rigging operations, material handling, electrical work, and mobile equipment operations.
  • Prepared detailed inspection reports, audit findings, and corrective action recommendations for project leadership and corporate safety management.
  • Promote employee engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement through proactive communication and behavioral based safety initiatives.
  • Support customer audits, regulatory inspections, and client safety meetings as required.
  • Provide temporary site safety support during project mobilizations, workforce increases, employee absences, or other operational needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned consistent with the position and organizational objectives.
