About The Position

Super Steel is seeking experienced MIG Welders with strong fit-up skills to join a high-production fabrication environment. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in MIG welding, blueprint reading, and weld fit-up, with experience working on carbon steel, mild steel, and stainless steel components. Candidates with both short-circuit and pulse MIG welding experience are strongly preferred. This role requires individuals who can independently interpret blueprints, perform layout and fit-up, and produce high-quality welds while maintaining productivity and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of MIG welding and fabrication experience
  • Strong fit-up experience with the ability to build directly from prints
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and AWS weld symbols
  • Experience welding: A36 carbon steel, Mild steel, Stainless steel
  • Experience with sheet, plate, and square/rectangular tubing
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

Nice To Haves

  • Experience welding dissimilar metals, particularly stainless steel to mild steel
  • Pulse MIG welding experience
  • Vertical-up welding experience
  • Overhead welding experience
  • Structural welding background
  • Layout and fabrication experience in non-fixtured environments

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG welding using .035" wire with a 75/25 gas mixture
  • Utilize both short-circuit transfer and pulse transfer welding processes
  • Weld carbon steel, mild steel, stainless steel, and dissimilar metals
  • Use 309 wire when welding dissimilar materials
  • Complete weld fit-up from blueprints without direct supervision
  • Produce quality fillet and groove welds in accordance with AWS weld symbols and WPS requirements
  • Perform basic weld cleanup and remove spatter as needed
  • Work from engineering drawings, weld symbols, bills of materials, and assembly instructions
  • Build and fit assemblies using both fixtured and non-fixtured processes
  • Maintain quality standards while meeting production requirements
  • Safely operate jib cranes and pallet jacks as required
