About The Position

E&K is seeking a Traveling Construction Project Engineer to support high-profile specialty construction projects from preconstruction through close-out. This role offers the opportunity to travel throughout the US (up to 75%) and gain hands-on experience on impactful projects while working alongside experienced industry professionals. The position is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented construction professional who wants exposure to every phase of a project lifecycle. The goal is to deliver high-quality interior specialty construction projects safely, on time, and on budget.

Requirements

  • Experience in commercial construction, specialty construction, engineering, project coordination, or a related field required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to understand construction drawings, blueprints/plans, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Must possess strong mathematical and analytical skills as well as problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational and document management skills required.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills in written and verbal form with people in all roles and backgrounds.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and travel.
  • Must be able to travel up to 75% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Experience with specialty construction products and construction trades is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage contract documents, including updating drawings and specifications, RFI and change management, and submittals.
  • Maintain organized project documentation using company systems and databases.
  • Assist with project forecasting, budgeting, and cost analysis.
  • Support change order takeoffs and pricing.
  • Conduct research and cost analysis of new products and manufacturers.
  • Solicit and compare quotes from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Assist with documentation and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare submittal packages including cover sheets, product data, maintenance information, SDS sheets, LEED letters, and shop drawings.
  • Draft and submit RFIs (Requests for Information).
  • Support quality assurance and project close-out initiatives.
  • Collaborate with project teams, office personnel, field teams, and other project affiliates.
  • Participate in site visits, coordination meetings, project planning activities, and jobsite trainings.
  • Support a culture where projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract requirements.
