About The Position

The Travel Trainer will provide group and/or one-to-one individualized training to individuals with disabilities, older adults, and others with the goal of independent travel on public transportation.

Requirements

  • 2 years’ experience in training role, preferably in the transportation industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport and communicate with customers and support network of the individuals.
  • Demonstrated training skills, comfortable leading groups of people, and speaking in front of people.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that allow effective working relationships with a diversity of people.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with individuals with disabilities.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Proficiency at the Intermediate level in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Display exemplary written and verbal communication skills with administration.
  • Able to work collaboratively, diplomatically, and with integrity in problem identification and problem-solving activities.
  • Possesses good organizational skill, ability to focus on assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team.
  • Ability to work flexible hours in all weather conditions; must be able to sit, stand, walk, balance, stoop, grasp, talk, hear, read documents and computer screen and operate computer keyboard.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college preferred.
  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct presentations to small and large groups.
  • Establish relationships with professionals in the field, community and advocacy organizations.
  • Complete in-person intake and assessment.
  • Provide one-on-one, individualized field training which includes but is not limited to schedule trainings at the time and location of the specific routes requested, direct individuals on transit skills, instruct individuals on how to navigate routes and on way-finding strategies.
  • Provide group training to small and large groups.
  • Utilize lesson plans that are appropriate for individuals with different learning levels.
  • Provide in class and in-the-field learning to professionals.
  • Provide on-going support after training.
  • Complete all reports and paperwork including but not limited to; initial intake, goal setting and plan, progressive evaluation, pre and posttest, final and follow-up report, satisfaction survey.
  • Other duties as assigned.
