About The Position

Wachter is seeking experienced access control installation teams to support a large-scale deployment of network-connected door access systems. Technicians will be responsible for installing power infrastructure, low-voltage cabling, network connectivity, enclosure mounting, conduit pathways, and associated field devices. Work will be performed during scheduled daytime construction/installation windows and will require adherence to site safety requirements, quality standards, and project timelines. This is a contract position based out of Dallas, TX, with 100% travel expected for the duration of the project (September - December).

Requirements

  • Commercial electrical installation experience.
  • Experience with EMT conduit installation and routing.
  • Knowledge of electrical code requirements and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work from prints, drawings, and installation documentation.
  • Experience with structured cabling installations.
  • Proficiency terminating and testing CAT5e/CAT6 cabling.
  • Understanding of low-voltage installation best practices.
  • Ability to read floor plans, wiring diagrams, and project documentation.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts (7 AM - 7 PM).
  • Available Sunday through Thursday throughout project duration.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders and lifts as required.
  • Must possess basic hand tools appropriate for their trade.
  • Ability to pass any site-specific background screening or safety requirements.

  • Experience with access control or security systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with network-based access control systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install and commission access control infrastructure at designated customer locations.
  • Install power infrastructure, low-voltage cabling, network connectivity, enclosure mounting, conduit pathways, and associated field devices.
  • Install and terminate high-voltage power circuits to designated power supply locations.
  • Mount and wire Altronix power supplies and backup power components.
  • Install EMT conduit systems, including bends, connectors, couplings, supports, and straps.
  • Install junction boxes and pull boxes as required by site conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, local electrical codes, and customer standards.
  • Verify proper grounding and power distribution for access control equipment.
  • Coordinate closely with the Data Technician during equipment installation and testing.
  • Perform troubleshooting and corrective actions related to electrical infrastructure.
  • Install and terminate CAT5e network cable.
  • Perform RJ45 connector termination and cable certification/testing.
  • Mount and connect Axis A1210-B Network Door Controllers.
  • Install and terminate Illuminated NFC Tap Point Assemblies.
  • Label, dress, and organize structured cabling.
  • Test network connectivity and device communications.
  • Assist with controller commissioning and system verification.
  • Maintain installation quality standards and documentation.
