About The Position

This is a 13-week contract position for a Travel RN in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The role requires the nurse to perform an age-specific plan of care for a designated group of patients using the nursing process. The nurse will collaborate with physicians and other health team members, utilizing leadership skills and clinical judgment to coordinate patient care and delegate activities. The responsibilities encompass a comprehensive range of nursing duties including assessing patients' physiological and psychosocial health status, identifying patient outcomes, formulating and implementing care plans, and evaluating the care provided. The role also involves collaborating with the care team, performing wound care, administering medications safely, and participating in patient and family education. The position requires adherence to safety precautions, effective emergency response, and maintaining a calm environment. The nurse will also be involved in discharge planning and referrals.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Associate’s Degree in Nursing, required.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of professional nursing experience in the related specialty.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State and/or Connecticut, required.
  • BLS required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
  • BLS, ACLS, & PALS American Heart Association Required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, preferred.

  • Performs grade I-IV Decubitus Care
  • Administers medications correctly and safely
  • Participates in patient and family education
  • Performs related duties, as required.
