About The Position

This position is for a Med Surg unit comprising 30 beds and 31.2 FTE staff. Patient ratios are typically 1:5. The unit utilizes Spine and Orthopedic braces and Meditech for Electronic Medical Records. The position requires flexibility as staffing may vary based on patient census. Day shifts include a charge nurse, several RNs, CNAs, and sitters. Night shifts are dependent on census. Common procedures include Total Knee Replacements, Laminectomy, VP Shunt Revision, Spinal Fusions, Total Hip Replacements, Open Reduction Internal Fixation (ORIF), and Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF).

Requirements

• Meditech experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

• Certification in a relevant field
• Background in spine and/or orthopedic procedures

Responsibilities

• Provide care on a Med Surg unit with 30 beds.
• Manage patient ratios of 1:5.
• Utilize Spine and Orthopedic braces.
• Use Meditech for Electronic Medical Records.
• Adapt to varying staffing needs based on patient census.
• Perform procedures such as Total Knee Replacements, Laminectomy, VP Shunt Revision, Spinal Fusions, Total Hip Replacements, Open Reduction Internal Fixation (ORIF), and Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF).
• Work weekends as part of the schedule, expecting to work 4 weekends in a 4-week period.
• Wear royal blue scrubs.
