About The Position

Are you an experienced Medical-Surgical RN looking for your next travel assignment? We are seeking a compassionate, flexible, and skilled Travel Med Surg Registered Nurse (RN) to join our clinical team in Cozad, NE for a Day Shift contract. In this role, you will deliver high-quality inpatient nursing care to adult patients with a wide variety of medical and surgical conditions. Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program.
  • Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Nebraska or a valid Compact/Multi-State RN license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of acute care Med Surg or mixed medical-surgical experience preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking, rapid clinical problem-solving, and time management skills to balance multiple priority patients.
  • Hands-on experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Adaptable, dependable, and comfortable stepping into new facility workflows quickly.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS / PALS: Preferred (may be required depending on unit needs).
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Experience with telemetry monitoring or post-operative surgical patient care.
  • Previous travel nursing contract experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive physical assessments, monitor vital signs and lab results, and evaluate patient response to treatment plans.
  • Safely administer medications, injections, and therapies per physician orders; manage peripheral IV lines.
  • Perform essential clinical procedures, including complex dressing changes, wound care, and specimen collection.
  • Maintain accurate, real-time documentation of patient status, interventions, and care plans within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Work closely with physicians, therapists, case managers, and nursing staff to coordinate multi-faceted care and drive safe, timely discharge planning.
  • Educate patients and their families regarding medical conditions, ongoing treatments, and post-discharge self-care instructions.
