About The Position

Sentara Norfolk General 5K Medical Surgical Specialties Unit is hiring for a Travel Registered Nurse! This is a temporary full-time, 14-week assignment on the day shift. The unit specializes in the care of Adult Surgical Patients, including those recovering from Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Plastic Surgery, GYN Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and Trauma Overflow. Patients on this unit may have conditions such as renal disease, diabetes, COPD, and heart failure. It is a telemetry-monitored unit with an average patient stay of 3-4 days. Additionally, the unit has 6 beds for Epilepsy monitoring and is the Living Kidney Donor Transplant Unit.

Requirements

Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or diploma in the Nursing Field required
Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
NIH Stroke Scale certification
2 or more years of recent acute care hospital RN experience

Responsibilities

Care for patients recovering from surgeries: Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Plastic Surgery, GYN Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and Trauma Overflow.
Care for patients with renal disease, diabetes, COPD, and heart failure.
Monitor patients on telemetry.
Provide care for patients in Epilepsy monitoring beds.
Provide care for Living Kidney Donor Transplant patients.
