About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive care to mothers and newborns throughout the labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum process. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (ADN or BSN required).
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Current BLS Certification required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience required.
  • Strong maternal-newborn assessment skills.
  • Knowledge of labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care practices.
  • Excellent critical thinking and clinical decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and patient education skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure and emergency situations.
  • Team-oriented mindset with flexibility to float between related units as needed.
  • Night Shift (12-Hour Shifts)
  • 6:30 PM Start Time
  • Weekends and holidays required as needed
  • Floating to Mother-Baby unit may be required based on census

Nice To Haves

  • Additional Labor & Delivery certifications may be required based on facility guidelines.
  • Experience caring for laboring, postpartum, and newborn patients preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal well-being throughout the labor process.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions according to physician orders and established protocols.
  • Assist physicians and healthcare providers during labor, delivery, and emergency procedures.
  • Educate patients and families regarding labor, childbirth, postpartum recovery, and newborn care.
  • Provide emotional support and advocacy for patients and families throughout the childbirth experience.
  • Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
  • Collaborate with physicians, midwives, neonatal teams, and interdisciplinary healthcare staff to ensure quality patient care.
  • Float to the Mother-Baby unit when needed to provide newborn and postpartum patient care based on census and staffing needs.
  • Maintain compliance with patient safety, infection prevention, and regulatory standards.
