About The Position

Sentara Heart Hospital, located on the campus of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, is seeking a Travel Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Procedural & Surgical Intermediate Care Unit (4HH East). This is a 24-bed unit providing care to pre and post cardiac surgery patients, including bypass surgery, cardiac valve repairs/replacements, thoracic surgery/lung diagnostics, and other cardiac procedures like ablations, left atrial appendages, ICDs, and permanent pacemakers. The unit also cares for patients with cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure, and chest pain. The staff is dedicated to high-quality care, patient outcomes, safety, and teamwork. Nurses typically manage 3-4 patients based on acuity, with the possibility of up to 5 depending on staffing. The unit is committed to providing opportunities for training, development, and growth.

Requirements

• Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• ACLS
• NIH Stroke Scale
• 2 or more years of recent acute care hospital RN experience
• Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or diploma in the Nursing Field required

Responsibilities

• Provide care to pre and post cardiac surgery patients.
• Administer care for patients undergoing cardiac procedures such as ablations, left atrial appendages, ICDs, and permanent pacemakers.
• Care for patients with cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure, and chest pain.
• Manage 3-4 patients based on acuity level, potentially up to 5 patients depending on staffing.
