About The Position

Fessler & Bowman, Inc., a top 100 Commercial Concrete Contractor, is seeking a Travel Project Manager to lead project teams in the successful completion of construction projects. This role involves overseeing project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, accounting, and control, while ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulations. This position is part of the Travel region, with current projects in Ohio and Indiana, and future projects anticipated in the Midwest and Southern US.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science in Engineering preferred, or equivalent in training and experience.
  • At least five (5) years of relatable construction experience.
  • Creative and results-oriented, with a strong sense of urgency and self-motivation.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with an adaptable and flexible style in working with all types of individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Project Start-Up meetings two weeks prior to project commencement and Project Close-Out meetings within 45 days of completion, documenting lessons learned.
  • Create, maintain, and close out accurate project budgets, updating them at least weekly, and track project financial performance including productivity.
  • Ensure timely processing of project A/R and A/P requirements in conjunction with the corporate financial team, with A/P processed within 7 days and A/R maintained under 60 days.
  • Achieve budgeted profitability by collaborating with field operations, ensuring Field Production Reports are updated daily and validated.
  • Manage the prime contract and prime contract change orders, ensuring work outside the prime contract scope is only performed with written authorization.
  • Submit, approve, and complete project procurement in accordance with project schedules to ensure material and subcontractor availability.
  • Develop, maintain, and cascade the project schedule to field operations and subcontractors, resolving scheduling conflicts with the customer.
  • Complete the Job Progress Report (JPR) process monthly.
  • Review Project Daily Logs daily for accuracy and completeness, communicating concerns to project teams and field operations.
  • Work with the General Superintendent and Equipment Director to ensure equipment usage stays within budget.
  • Review and communicate progress daily.
  • Prepare lists of project issues and contribute to weekly Regional Coordination Meetings to seek resolution.
  • Report and escalate project risk management concerns to the Regional Director.
  • Review V-plans and sequencing plans with field operations to identify build issues and submit solutions for client approval.
  • Communicate and collaborate with field operations daily.
  • Lead, coach, and develop PE’s and APM’s, performing regular check-ins and providing necessary training.
  • Manage project document processes, including drawings, specifications, submittals, and RFIs.
  • Review project safety requirements and collaborate with the Regional Safety Manager to ensure plan documents are updated and implemented.
  • Secure all necessary licensing and permits prior to job start, in accordance with local, state, and municipal laws.
  • Secure all liability insurance, OCIP and/or CCIP according to contractual requirements and company practices.
  • Secure all bonding according to contract requirements and company practices.
  • Communicate and uphold the Company’s commitment to Integrity and Code of Ethics, ensuring the same for the entire team.
  • Perform other relevant tasks as assigned.
