About The Position

This role is for a Float Clinician I, serving as a Travel Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (NP/PA). New graduates are welcome to apply. The position involves traveling to various health centers to provide reproductive health services. The clinician will review and interpret medical and social histories, perform screenings and exams, interpret lab data, and provide a full range of contraceptive methods. Responsibilities include managing basic STI and genito-urinary conditions, providing medication abortion, prescribing emergency contraception, diagnosing and treating uncomplicated STIs, performing wart treatment and basic dermatological procedures, and offering gender-affirming hormone therapy and premenopausal/menopausal health services. The role also involves acting as a medical consultant, managing emergencies, participating in staff meetings, providing training, and contributing to health center productivity goals. The clinician will demonstrate customer service standards and assist with other center support work as needed. Patient-centered exams and management include conducting and interpreting medical histories for sexual and reproductive health visits, performing pelvic and breast exams, Pap smears, and other screening procedures, ordering and interpreting lab tests, and managing urgent health situations. Team engagement includes acting as a clinical resource, attending staff meetings, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA), Women’s Health NP (WHNP), or Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) program
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice in the state of California
  • Board Certification
  • CPR/BLS certification (current or within 30 days of hire)
  • Strong customer service mindset and ability to thrive in a team-based environment
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Windows-based systems)

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret the medical and social history of both male and female reproductive health patients
  • Perform appropriate medical screening procedures/exams for both male and female patients
  • Interpret laboratory data, order additional laboratory investigations when indicated and ensure appropriate follow-up
  • Provide a full range of contraceptive methods, including self-administered options and injections
  • Perform medical assessment and management of basic STI and genito-urinary conditions for both male and female patients
  • Provide medication abortion, as indicated
  • Prescribe and educate on emergency contraception
  • Diagnose and treat uncomplicated STIs and genitourinary conditions
  • Perform wart treatment and basic dermatological procedures
  • Provide gender-affirming hormone therapy and related care
  • Offer premenopausal and menopausal health services
  • Act as a medical consultant to clinic staff
  • Manage emergency situations in the health center
  • Participate in staff meetings relating to center management and provides staff training in current medical procedures which are relevant to reproductive health
  • Contribute to achieving health center productivity goals
  • Demonstrate PPMM customer service standards
  • Assist in other areas of center support work as required
  • Conduct and interpret medical histories for sexual and reproductive health visits
