About The Position

The Travel Director of Nursing must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. This role requires the ability to conduct and administer fiscal operations, including accounting, planning budgets, authorizing expenditures, establishing rates for services, and coordinating financial reporting. The position involves collecting, analyzing, and managing data, as well as directing, supervising, and evaluating the work activities of medical, nursing, technical, clerical, service, maintenance, and other personnel. Maintaining communication between governing boards, medical staff, and department heads is crucial, achieved by attending board meetings and coordinating interdepartmental functioning. The role demands the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Nursing Services department. This includes recruiting, selecting, hiring, training, evaluating, counseling, and supervising Nursing staff. The Director of Nursing will review and analyze facility activities and data to aid planning and cash and risk management, and to improve service utilization. They will plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, establish benchmarks, and direct professional and non-professional staff. Staying aware of advances in medicine, computerized diagnostic and treatment equipment, data processing technology, government regulations, health insurance changes, and financing options is essential. The position involves monitoring the use of diagnostic services, inpatient beds, facilities, and staff to ensure effective resource utilization and to assess the need for additional staff, equipment, and services. Developing and maintaining computerized record management systems to store and process data such as personnel activities and information, and to produce reports is required. The Director of Nursing will prepare activity reports to inform management of the status and implementation plans of programs, services, and quality initiatives. Inspecting facilities and recommending building or equipment modifications to ensure emergency readiness and compliance with access, safety, and sanitation regulations is part of the role. Developing and implementing organizational policies and procedures for the facility or medical unit is necessary. The Director of Nursing must be an active participant of the Quality Assessment & Assurance Committee. They will consult with medical, business, and community groups to discuss service problems, respond to community needs, enhance public relations, coordinate activities and plans, and promote health programs. Developing instructional materials and conducting in-service and community-based educational programs is also a responsibility. The role includes developing or expanding and implementing medical programs or health services that promote research, rehabilitation, and community health. Effective communication with physicians, Nursing staff, and other professional and non-professional staff is vital. The Director of Nursing must be knowledgeable of nursing practices and procedures, as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in the long-term care facility. Leadership ability and a willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel are required. Understanding and following company policies, including harassment and complaint procedures, is mandatory. The role involves assisting in the evacuation of residents, assigning appropriate levels of CNAs and LPNs per shift, directing care provided by Nursing staff, and providing direct nursing care as necessary. The ability to concentrate, use reasoning skills, good judgment, and critical thinking skills is essential. The Director of Nursing must be able to communicate and function in an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities
