The Travel Director of Nursing must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. This role requires the ability to conduct and administer fiscal operations, including accounting, planning budgets, authorizing expenditures, establishing rates for services, and coordinating financial reporting. The position involves collecting, analyzing, and managing data, as well as directing, supervising, and evaluating the work activities of medical, nursing, technical, clerical, service, maintenance, and other personnel. Maintaining communication between governing boards, medical staff, and department heads is crucial, as is the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Nursing Services department. The role also includes recruiting, selecting, hiring, training, evaluating, counseling, and supervising Nursing staff. Reviewing and analyzing facility activities and data to aid planning and cash and risk management, and to improve service utilization, is essential. The Director of Nursing must plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, establish benchmarks, and direct professional and non-professional staff. Staying aware of advances in medicine, computerized diagnostic and treatment equipment, data processing technology, government regulations, health insurance changes, and financing options is necessary. Monitoring the use of diagnostic services, inpatient beds, facilities, and staff to ensure effective resource utilization and assess the need for additional staff, equipment, and services is part of the role. Developing and maintaining computerized record management systems to store and process data and produce reports, and preparing activity reports to inform management of program status and implementation plans are also key responsibilities. Inspecting facilities and recommending modifications to ensure emergency readiness and compliance with safety and sanitation regulations is required. Developing and implementing organizational policies and procedures for the facility or medical unit, and actively participating in the Quality Assessment & Assurance Committee are also part of the job. Consulting with medical, business, and community groups to discuss service problems, respond to community needs, enhance public relations, coordinate activities, and promote health programs is expected. Developing instructional materials and conducting in-service and community-based educational programs, as well as developing or expanding and implementing medical programs or health services, are also duties. Effective communication with physicians, Nursing staff, and other personnel is vital. Knowledge of nursing practices, procedures, and governing laws and regulations is required. Leadership ability and a willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise personnel are necessary. Understanding and following company policies, including harassment and complaint procedures, is mandatory. The role includes assisting in resident evacuation, assigning appropriate levels of CNAs and LPNs per shift, directing care provided by Nursing staff, and providing direct nursing care as necessary. The ability to concentrate, use reasoning skills, good judgment, and critical thinking skills, and to communicate and function in an interdisciplinary team are essential.
