About The Position

Trauma Quality Specialist – Trauma Services Make Tomorrow Better for Our Patients NewYork-Presbyterian Queens is one of three Level I Trauma Centers in the Queens, accredited by the American College of Surgeons. Our Trauma Services team includes experts from Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Vascular, and multiple interdisciplinary departments dedicated to guiding patients through all phases of trauma care and recovery. We are seeking a Trauma Quality Specialist to support performance improvement initiatives, ensure high quality trauma data abstraction, and contribute to patient safety and clinical excellence. You will play a key role in enhancing trauma program outcomes through rigorous data management, communication, and collaboration. Role Summary The Trauma Quality Specialist is responsible for identifying and abstracting trauma patient data in alignment with New York State Trauma Program requirements and the American College of Surgeons (ACS) standards. This role ensures accurate data collection, validation, and submission to support performance improvement, injury prevention, and research initiatives. Support a dedicated team of doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals who are there to catch patients when they fall and work to get them back out there living life. This is a part time, day shift position at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience with basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology.
  • Data abstraction and computer data entry skills (Microsoft Excel)
  • Superior communication and customer service skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA standards.
