About The Position

Nurturing Spirits in Times of Healing Make a lasting impression on patients at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens as a Per Diem Staff Chaplain. Work with a diverse population and counsel patients undergoing surgical procedures, facing end of life issues or involved in traumatic accidents. Offer comfort and support to patients' families and friends. Assist patients and their families with a broad spectrum of faith traditions; find a sense of calm and peace in the most stressful of situations. Additionally, you will provide spiritual support to fellow staff members and care providers. Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Completion of two units of Clinical Pastoral Education; Or, completion of one unit of CPE, one-year successful congregational ministry experience and skilled in responding to pastoral care emergencies in a healthcare setting.
  • If ordained, must be in good standing with the ordaining religious body, evidenced by official endorsement or letter of good standing from a denominational official
  • Communication and presentation skills to effectively interact in a cross-cultural setting.
  • Analytical skills and problem identification for identifying alternative courses of action.
  • Anyone hired without two completed units of CPE will be required to complete them to maintain employment

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate theological education or Master’s Degree in a related field
  • Four units of ACPE-accredited CPE
  • Actively working towards certification by a certifying body recognized by the Spiritual Care Collaborative such as APC (Association for Professional Chaplains), NACC (National Association of Catholic Chaplains), NAJC (National Association of Jewish Chaplains), etc, or appropriate equivalency approved by the Corporate Director of Pastoral Care & Education
