The Trauma Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of trauma care within the hospital. This role involves collaborating with various medical staff, administration, ancillary services, nursing personnel, EMS agencies, community hospitals, and law enforcement. The coordinator monitors the care of trauma patients, assists in the Emergency Department as needed, and acts as a liaison with patient families. They also participate in performance improvement activities, serve as a resource for trauma-related issues, and assist with nursing education. Additionally, the role involves coordinating the Trauma Prevention program, developing community outreach initiatives, and providing technical assistance. The coordinator also assists the Trauma Registrar with data abstraction and provides input into the trauma program budget. They contribute to the development of trauma practice management guidelines, policies, and protocols, and assist with preparations for regulatory reviews.
