About The Position

The PIPS RN work in collaboration with the Trauma Program Director, Data Analyst Nurse Manager, and entire trauma team to monitor and coordinate trauma program and system elements to ensure compliance with American College of Surgeons, Committee on Trauma (ACS-COT), NYS, and facility PI requirements for a verified trauma center. Applies advanced clinical expertise and systematically and continuously monitors trauma patient and quality outcome data and prepare for quality review. Requires the ability to manage challenging situations and have crucial conversations for the purpose of reaching consensus, maintaining accountability, and consistency among health care professionals. Participation in the regional, state and national trauma performance improvement activities such as Trauma Quality Improvement (TQIP). Additional responsibilities include abstraction of required data on trauma patients for inclusion into the trauma data registry and validation of trauma registry data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or healthcare related field required. Must complete within 6 months of hire ACS-COT TOPIC course
  • NYS RN License
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft office applications to include spreadsheets and relational database applications.
  • Five years of emergency department or surgical critical care/trauma required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the performance improvement process, data quality improvement processes, data analysis, process modeling, and quality measures preferred
