About The Position

The Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator identifies, verifies, and investigates complications and events involving trauma patients. Under minimal supervision from the Trauma Program Manager and/or Trauma Medical Director, the coordinator analyzes trends and leads trauma-program performance improvement and quality assurance activities from pre-hospital care through discharge. The role uses improvement methodologies and group management techniques to guide teams through improvement initiatives and collaborates with trauma team members and leadership to develop action plans and close the loop on events involving quality of care and risk issues. The work emphasizes increasing efficiency and reducing variability, errors, and defects by using program data and current trauma best practices. The coordinator prepares reports and recommendations, provides education to team members as needed, and applies continuous improvement methodologies to spread successful innovations throughout the hospital. Trauma performance improvement activities must reflect the latest criteria and standards in the American College of Surgeons’ “Resources for the Optimal Care of the Injured Patient.” This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week day-shift position in the Trauma Services Department.
