The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a full-time Trauma Hospital Coordinator to join our team at our Papago Park Campus! This role works Sunday–Wednesday, 7:30 AM–6:00 PM, and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping provide exceptional care to animals in need while supporting our Trauma Hospital team. Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • At least 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital or shelter medicine required
  • Proficiency with phlebotomy, immunology, anesthesiology, parasitology, endocrinology, pharmacology
  • Perform safe and humane animal handling
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Able to solve complex problems with the ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Ability to flourish in a high-volume, fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Ability to build relationships and foster positive attitudes in a team-oriented environment
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and background screening to be compliant with DEA requirements for dispensing controlled drugs

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a veterinary technician program preferred
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a veterinary hospital, animal welfare, or comparable healthcare environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily hospital operations
  • Coordinate assignments
  • Ensure tasks are completed efficiently and effectively
  • Lead by example while assisting veterinarians with exams, procedures, surgeries, emergency care, and monitoring the health and welfare of animals
  • Support the training and coaching of technicians and volunteers
  • Maintain accurate medical records
  • Assist with laboratory testing, radiology, vaccinations, medications, and other essential patient care duties
  • Work closely with veterinarians, employees, volunteers, leadership, and HR to maintain open communication, address concerns, and resolve or escalate issues as needed
  • Assist with hospital cleanliness
  • Controlled drug management
  • Prescription fulfillment
  • Euthanasia procedures
  • Determining medical adoptability and appropriate disposition for animals
