About The Position

The Trauma and Stroke Program Coordinator works in conjunction with the Trauma Medical Director and Stroke Medical Director to organize, implement, and evaluate systems necessary for multidisciplinary trauma and stroke care across the continuum of care. Services include pre-hospital, emergency, surgical, intensive care, inpatient nursing, ancillary, education, and community services. This role supports program development, performance improvement, registry management, committee coordination, and community education to ensure high-quality, compliant patient care.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Demonstrated experience providing care to trauma and stroke patients in an acute-care setting
  • Documented continuing education in trauma and stroke nursing
  • Experience in education program development
  • Experience with hospital quality management and performance improvement programs
  • Experience with development, implementation, or maintenance of Trauma and/or Stroke Registries
  • Utilization of trauma- and stroke-related research in designing care standards and guidelines
  • Completion of required annual continuing education in trauma- and stroke-related topics

  • Membership in professional organizations preferred (e.g., ENA, AACN, AORN, STN, ATS)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Trauma and Stroke Medical Directors to develop, implement, and monitor clinical guidelines
  • Organize and coordinate multidisciplinary trauma and stroke care across the continuum of care
  • Facilitate quarterly Trauma and Stroke Committee meetings, including agendas and meeting minutes
  • Lead performance improvement activities using registry data
  • Collect, enter, maintain, and analyze data within the Trauma and Stroke Registries
  • Prepare and present reports to Medical Directors, committees, and leadership
  • Ensure timely submission of required trauma and stroke data to state and regulatory agencies
  • Serve as a liaison with the State Department of Health EMS Division and regional partners
  • Respond to ED activations, including Alpha Trauma and Code Stroke, when in-house or requested
  • Coordinate care with physicians, nursing, rehabilitation, dietary, and ancillary services
  • Provide injury prevention and stroke education to staff and the community
  • Support budgeting and resource planning for trauma and stroke services
  • Assist with maintaining competencies of trauma and stroke response teams
  • Perform Trauma Registrar and Stroke Registrar duties as needed
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and hospital standards
