About The Position

Assist with safely transporting patients within the hospital. This per diem position fills in as needed and works the evening shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., including weekends. The Transporter provides age-appropriate support for patients from neonates through geriatrics; transports patients, equipment, and supplies among hospital departments using various modes of transportation; and promotes patient safety and a safe environment. The role also involves communicating with colleagues and dispatch, documenting transportation activities, keeping equipment storage areas orderly, assisting with equipment maintenance, and performing other related duties as requested by a supervisor or dispatcher.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Good verbal communication skills.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card from the American Heart Association prior to hire.

Responsibilities

Transport patients, equipment, and supplies to and from various hospital departments using different modes of transportation and handling different types of patient equipment.
Promote patient safety and maintain a safe environment.
Provide care and support appropriate to the ages of patients served, including neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics.
Maintain open lines of communication.
Document transportation activities and submit documentation to the Dispatcher at the end of the shift.
Keep equipment storage areas neat and orderly and assist with equipment maintenance.
Perform other job-related duties within the job scope as requested by a supervisor or dispatcher.
