About The Position
As a Transporter, you are responsible for the safe and appropriate transportation of patients, oxygen, medications, and specimens as needed. You coordinate the cleaning and disinfecting of transportation equipment with SPD according to SPD protocols, and store and maintain an inventory of transportation equipment. You build positive relationships with patients, guests, team members, and medical staff by striving for excellence in service and quality. The role also includes assisting with the movement of materials and supplies throughout the Health System, delivering and picking up vehicles for service and fuel, and assisting with valet services. The position is PRN in Brunswick.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Georgia driver’s license with no violations within a minimum of three years from the date of hire or transfer.
- American Heart CPR certification.
Responsibilities
- Transport patients safely using the appropriate transportation device according to their age and physical condition.
- Secure patients’ hands, feet, and patient-care equipment during transport.
- Connect patients to portable oxygen for transport and ensure the supply is sufficient for the duration of transport.
- Monitor oxygen tanks to ensure an adequate supply for patient transport.
- Assist with patient movement from the transport vehicle.
- Respond to transport requests in a timely manner.
- Communicate through the clinical information system.
- Maintain proper inventory and stock of oxygen tanks throughout designated departments.
- Demonstrate preventive maintenance requirements for transportation devices.
- Maintain the confidentiality of patient medical records and provide patient privacy during transport, as appropriate.
- Maintain a courteous and cordial attitude with patients and avoid inappropriate behavior or communication in the presence of patients and visitors.
- Assist with pickup, delivery, and distribution of materials, supplies, reports, specimens, stock, mail, and paychecks throughout the Health System.
- Deliver and pick up Health System vehicles for service and fuel as required.
- Assist with valet services, including handling and counting money, parking customer vehicles, and helping customers with various needs.
- Coordinate the cleaning and disinfecting of transportation equipment with SPD according to SPD protocols.
- Store and maintain an inventory of transportation equipment.
