About The Position

Under supervision, transports patients and materials to various destinations inside medical facilities. Provides patient and family education regarding transfer techniques to be used in the post-hospital setting, as appropriate, and performs other work as required. The role maintains, demonstrates, and is assessed on the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs appropriate to the ages of patients served on the assigned unit.

Requirements

• Current BLS certification is required.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to learn the principles, methods, and procedures of proper patient care and medical facility routines and techniques.
• Ability to provide patient care in an understanding and sympathetic manner.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Ability to use proper body mechanics when lifting and moving at least 100 pounds.
• Ability to use good judgment when acting independently of supervisory guidance.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and fellow employees.
• Ability to work effectively under stress and in emergency situations.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and hospital policies and procedures concerning quality assurance, safety, environmental matters, and infection control.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a recognized basic patient care training program is preferred.
• Six months of experience is preferred.

Responsibilities
