The ED Transporter is responsible for providing and supporting patient care and an exceptional patient experience in the ED. This role involves assisting patients with ambulation, transporting them via wheelchair or stretcher, performing 1:1 suicide watch, responding to call bells, and acting as a sitter when requested. The transporter also measures and documents vital signs, provides support and information in the waiting area, communicates patient/family changes to the nursing staff, performs EKGs, conducts hourly rounding, identifies and reports equipment repairs, and stocks ED supplies. Additionally, the role may include clerical tasks and participation in staff meetings and shared governance.
