About The Position

The Transporter - Medical Transport - Part Time is responsible for accurately securing all wheelchairs and stretchers in vans, properly operating the lifts on the vans, and operating all vehicles in the transport fleet. This role requires the ability to maintain CPR or BCLS, and First Aid certifications, possess a current valid driver's license, and be at least 21 years of age per PA PUC requirement. The transporter must be able to read, write, and understand oral communication, keep neat and legible written records, follow universal precautions, utilize proper body mechanics, make timely decisions, and operate communication radios in all vans. Essential functions include performing all paperwork and documentation accurately, identifying patients by confirming their name and date of birth before any treatment, staying familiar with equipment, notifying proper authorities when applicable, performing safe vehicle operation including lift operation, accurately securing wheelchairs and stretchers, securing patient safety belts, and knowing proper lifting, securing, and moving techniques for stretchers. The transporter must also be able to perform CPR and basic first aid, recognize emergency situations, and provide vehicle transport.

Requirements

• Must have current valid driver’s license.
• Must be 21 years of age as per PA PUC requirement.
• Ability to read, write, and understand oral communication.
• Keeps neat/legible written records.
• Follows universal precautions and utilizes proper body mechanics.
• Is able to make timely decisions.
• Must be able to operate communication radios in all vans.

Nice To Haves

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Maintains CPR or BCLS, and First Aid.

Responsibilities

• Accurately secures safety belts on patients.
• Keeps familiar in the proper lifting, securing, and moving techniques of stretchers.
• Is able to perform CPR and basic first aid and to recognize an emergency situation.
