About The Position

As our Site Manager, you’ll run the show at our customer distribution center – managing daily operations, drivers, and supervisors to keep freight moving safely and efficiently. The Site Manager will manage all shifts in a location at our customer’s yard or warehouse distribution center. The role is to efficiently and effectively manage our site operation to provide excellent customer service and achievement of wider business objectives. The role will directly manage and be responsible for all operational staff on site to include drivers, yard jockeys, administrative staff, and supervisors.

Requirements

  • Proficient knowledge of warehouse and yard management, procedures, and policy
  • Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Comfortable delivering frequent direct written and oral feedback
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally with internal and external contacts at various levels

  • Ability to handle a variety of changing situations under stress
  • Ability to organize materials, manage time, and prioritize tasks in order to complete projects on or before specified deadlines
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 10+ years of transportation or warehouse experience, with two of those in a supervisory role

Responsibilities

  • The day-to-day management and planning of the distribution center in accordance with KPIs and in line with customer’s expectations
  • Work in tandem with customer’s yard manager to ensure moves are being executed safely and timely as well as weekly discussion for volumes, yard schedules, yard issues, truck issues, etc.
  • Oversee daily operations, while controlling and managing personnel and logistics
  • Supervise daily activities of the yard and office, including quality assurance, space management, logistics, floor productivity, and customer service
  • Ensure that the demands of the distribution center are met, and manage the flow and quality of work to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime
  • Reviewing the as-is status of the distribution center and continuously identifying areas for improvement and efficiency planning and leading on the execution of improvement within the distribution centers
  • Providing leadership to the yard/warehouse staff including developmental plans, coaching of employees and leading on engagement and culture
  • Review and prepare workflow, manning and space requirements, equipment layout, and action plans while ensuring productivity, quality and customer service standards are met
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
  • Manage site/yard budget
  • Daily/weekly completion or review of reports such as: auditing and approval of time sheets, complete billing of reports of labor distribution, upkeep of hours of service for each truck in NTC, monitoring PM’s in NTC, shuttle logs and others.
  • Conduct Driver interviews, hiring, onboarding and driver observations
  • Monitor DVIR’s in accordance with DOT
  • Inspect equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and oversee or request general maintenance as needed
  • Meet regularly with yard leads to review, analyze, and develop actionable plans for productivity
  • Addresses performance issues and employee relations situations that effect day-to-day operations of the branch.
  • Daily Yard inspections
  • Monitors all aspects of the day-to-day operations insuring a safe and orderly facility in compliance with all state and federal regulations and requirements; monitors facility for security issues and presents awareness among all associates of potential security issues and safeguards.
  • Develops and supports all branch personnel through on-going communication and training activities to maintain an effective team.
  • Ensuring all legislative and health and safety requirements are addressed, and appropriate departments are notified, thereby minimizing any exposure to risk.
