About The Position

The Transportation Equipment Yard Boss provides operational oversight and management of LOGSU-1 vehicle and equipment yard activities. Reporting to the Transportation Division Leading Chief Petty Officer (LCPO), this role ensures accountability, organization, and readiness of a large fleet of vehicles and equipment. Responsibilities include overseeing vehicle check-in/check-out processes, inspecting equipment, maintaining yard conditions, and managing collateral gear. This position is critical to ensuring fleet availability, safety compliance, and efficient support to Naval Special Warfare missions.

Requirements

  • Experience: Vehicle yard operations, fleet management, or logistics support
  • Experience: Vehicle inspections and accountability procedures
  • Certification: Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Certification: Valid forklift operator’s license
  • Skills: Organizational and multitasking skills in high-tempo environments
  • Skills: Equipment tracking skills
  • Clearance: Secret
  • U.S. citizen
  • Driver’s License required
  • Must be able to operate Government vehicles and equipment
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must maintain high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Must be capable of working independently with minimal supervision
  • Must have knowledge of logistics and inventory systems
  • Must be capable of operating within classified environments and systems (Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET) / Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET))
  • Must comply with all safety, security, and workplace regulations
  • Ability to stand, walk, and conduct inspections for extended periods
  • Ability to climb, bend, and work around vehicles and equipment
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment
  • Ability to work in outdoor and industrial yard environments
  • Ability to lift and handle tools and equipment

Responsibilities

  • Oversee check-in/check-out processes for Government vehicles and equipment
  • Manage parking arrangements and yard organization to support operational requirements
  • Conduct 360-degree vehicle inspections, including interior, exterior, and undercarriage checks
  • Ensure vehicles meet safe operating conditions and contain required safety equipment
  • Perform daily yard inspections, ensuring vehicles are secured, clean, and properly staged
  • Maintain and operate wash rack area, including cleaning and upkeep of equipment
  • Conduct routine maintenance actions, including cycling vehicles not in regular use
  • Clean and maintain fuel water separators and wash rack collection systems
  • Manage collateral equipment inventories, including containers, cages, and toolboxes
  • Inspect vehicles returned from maintenance for cleanliness, fuel level, and readiness
  • Ensure compliance with fleet accountability and readiness standards
