About The Position

Apex Companies is a fast-growing engineering and environmental consulting firm seeking a skilled and motivated Traffic Engineer. This role requires hands-on experience with transportation and traffic engineering projects across Florida, including work with FDOT and local municipalities. The ideal candidate will hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida, or be eligible to obtain one within six months. Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Florida PE license, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
3+ years of experience in traffic or transportation engineering.
Valid driver's license and clean driving history.
Proficiency in Synchro/SimTraffic.
Experience with FDOT driveway connection permitting.
Experience with Traffic Impact Statements for local municipalities.
Experience with Traffic signal design.

Nice To Haves

Proficiency in HCS.
Proficiency in MicroStation or AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

Prepare and manage FDOT Driveway Connection Permit applications, including technical documentation and coordination with FDOT reviewers.
Develop Traffic Impact Statements (TIS) for cities and counties throughout Florida.
Conduct operational analyses and traffic modeling using Synchro/SimTraffic, including scenario development and LOS evaluation.
Perform traffic signal design, including plans, timing sheets, and coordination plans in alignment with FDOT and local agency standards.
Prepare technical reports, design documents, and supporting calculations.
Coordinate with clients, project managers, and permitting agencies.
Support multidisciplinary teams on transportation engineering projects.
