About The Position

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is a dynamic, 100% employee-owned consulting firm with over 2,800 professionals providing a full range of multidisciplinary engineering, architecture, information technology, and related services to public agencies and private clients throughout the United States. JMT's Construction Management Team is seeking a Transportation Technician II to apply standard inspection procedures on ongoing activities in the State of North Carolina, during and after construction for quality, safety, and conformance to plans and specifications. This position is available in multiple locations within North Carolina. Immigration sponsorship or support is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Requirements

• Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
• Must successfully complete and pass JMT's drug screening process, thereafter subject to random and for cause drug and alcohol testing.
• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of progressive technician level experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Active driver’s license
• Experience analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans

Nice To Haves

• NCDOT certifications including Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, and Conventional Density Testing preferred
• 4+ years of construction inspection experience on transportation projects preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection of contractor’s operations on a variety of transportation projects including roadway and bridge construction to verify conformance to plans and specifications
• Perform routine material testing
• Measure and track quantities of pay items
• Gather and maintain record documents including material certifications, testing reports, and inspector’s daily diaries
• Perform other related duties as assigned
