Transportation Technician I
About The Position
Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is a 100% employee-owned consulting firm with over 2,800 professionals, offering a wide range of engineering, architecture, information technology, and related services. JMT's Construction Management Team is looking for a Transportation Technician I to perform inspections on transportation projects in North Carolina. This role involves ensuring quality, safety, and conformance to plans and specifications during and after construction. Statewide opportunities are available, and the position can be based in multiple North Carolina locations. Immigration sponsorship is not available, except for TN visa candidates.
Requirements
- Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.
- Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution; or two years equivalent CEI experience.
- Active driver’s license.
Nice To Haves
- NCDOT certifications including Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, and Conventional Density Testing preferred.
- Construction inspection experience on NCDOT projects preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspection of contractor’s operations on a variety of transportation projects including roadway and bridge construction to verify conformance to plans and specifications.
- Performs routine material testing.
- Measure and track quantities of pay items.
- Gathers and maintains record documents including material certifications, testing reports, and inspector’s daily diaries.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
