Requirements

  • 3–5 years of leadership experience in transportation.
  • Proven track record in the produce industry preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or related field experience.
  • Maintain a valid California Driver License – Class A.
  • Strong management and supervisory skills, including hiring, training, performance management, and conflict resolution.
  • Skilled in transportation telematics such as Samara, WMS, and/or similar tools like Xata(net), Peoplenet, and DriveCam.
  • Proficient in Windows-based applications and computer research tools, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Solid knowledge of supply chain management, budgeting, operations management, inventory control, material handling, and customer service.
  • Innovative thinking to design and implement programs.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise routing, dispatch, and drivers to meet productivity, quality, and service metrics.
  • Carry out hiring, training, performance management, and conflict resolution in line with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Analyze and improve transportation activities, including routes, to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
  • Assist with conducting thorough and objective fleet accident investigations, contribute to root-cause analysis, and ensure corrective actions and training are implemented.
  • Schedule drivers weekly, taking their licenses (commercial or noncommercial) into consideration.
  • Ensure all operations meet legal requirements, including FMCSA, DOT, CARB, IFTA, IRP, UCR, BIT, and other applicable regulations.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of trucks, tractors, trailers, and other equipment.
