Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3+ years of experience in transportation/logistics
  • Valid CDL class A driver's license
  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and safety compliance
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with dispatch/routing software and basic computer skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends
  • Able to travel occasionally

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily transportation operations, including scheduling, dispatching, and supervising drivers to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery or transit services.
  • Supervise and schedule drivers/transportation staff, including shift assignments and coverage
  • Train drivers on food safety handling, allergen control, and proper loading/unloading procedures for bulk commodities
  • Maintain records: driver ELD logs, DOT files, rail car tracking, weight tickets, and sanitation/washout logs
  • Monitor routes, delivery/transit schedules, and vehicle utilization for efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, safety standards, and company policies
  • Coordinate vehicle maintenance and inspections with fleet/maintenance manager
  • Liaise with mill production, quality assurance, and sales teams to align transportation with production schedules and customer commitments
  • Train new drivers and enforce safety protocols
  • Maintain accurate records (logs, licenses, certifications, inspection reports)
  • Communicate with drivers, customers, or other departments to resolve issues
  • Prepare reports on performance metrics (on-time rates, safety incidents, costs)
