About The Position

The Transportation Specialist / Driver transports homes and components for Cavco brands, following specified engineering and safety processes to efficiently deliver and set products for customers. The role drives and operates combinations of trucks and vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of more than 26,001 pounds that require a Class A license.

Requirements

Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate, or ability to obtain and maintain one.
Minimum 1–2 years of Class A CDL driving experience.
Safe driving record and ability to meet Company and DOT driver qualification standards.
Ability to satisfy all FMCSA drug and alcohol testing requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Ability to work independently and travel as required.
Working knowledge of ANSI crane hand signals.
Familiarity with FMCSA DOT Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and ELD compliance.

Nice To Haves

Experience transporting oversized and/or overweight loads.

Responsibilities

Pick up and transport modular homes and construction materials to intended destinations.
Assist with setting modular units.
Maintain driving and delivery logs, confirm units are correct for pickup, and track and report working hours.
Inspect the vehicle before and after each trip and maintain and service it as needed, including refueling, changing oil, and checking tire pressure.
Follow the delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times.
Follow safety procedures for transporting oversized and overweight cargo.
Communicate with dispatch as needed through text and email.
Confirm load contents match manifest documents.
Check weather conditions and road reports before departure.
Keep the vehicle clean.
