About The Position

NORA, the Nationwide Organ Recovery Transport Alliance, partners with Organ Procurement Organizations, Transplant Centers, Hospitals, Living Donor Networks, and Laboratories nationwide. It provides air and ground organ recovery transportation through a “One Call Solution.” NORA is recruiting part-time, on-call Organ Transport Drivers. Transportation Specialists collect organ storage containers and transport medical teams, organs, tissues, tissue donors, and supplies in NORA vehicles for emergency and non-emergency organ procurement transportation. The position involves 24-hour on-call shifts, typically two to three per week, including weekends and holidays, and must not exceed 30 hours per week. Drivers receive $28.00 per hour during active transport and $50.00 per scheduled on-call day.

Requirements

Must be at least 25 years old.
Must be able to report to the location within 30–35 minutes of the transport assignment location to pick up the assigned vehicle.
Must have an acceptable state driving record, verified through the DMV and reviewed annually.
Must be able to work 24-hour on-call shifts.

Successful background and drug screening; criminal charges and convictions may be considered if substantially related to the position.

Emergency Vehicle Operator (EVOC) certification.

Responsibilities

Lift, push, pull, and carry organ storage containers.
Load devices such as the OrganOx liver machine into a vehicle using a manual ramp or mechanical lift.
Load and unload transport vehicles with organ storage containers and supplies.
Safely and efficiently transport medical teams, organs, tissues, tissue donors, and supplies.
Operate NORA SUVs.
Assemble, inventory, and photograph supplies.
Complete the verification process with Dispatch before deploying equipment.
Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and customer service throughout transports.
