About The Position

PCSI is seeking an experienced Transportation Specialist III! This position will report to the Project Manager/Foreman and is based in NAVSEA, San Diego. Typical work hours will be Monday through Friday from 6:30am-3pm. PCSI is an AbilityOne employer—as such, individuals and veterans with disabilities may be prioritized based on role. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Requires knowledge of smart phones, tablets, PC functions and software.
  • Operation of Microsoft Office Suite and related applications.
  • Requires experience using hand tools, power tools and electrical equipment.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Frequently required to sit and climb or balance.
  • Use of hands and fingers to handle or feel. Ability to reach with hands and arms.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds assisted.
  • Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to plan, direct, train, oversee and perform skilled maintenance and repair work in the assigned area; use and maintain common hand tools, small power equipment and other facility equipment.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in written format, including ability to instruct others in correct maintenance procedures and safe use of materials and equipment.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Self-starter, able to work with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Operation of Windows applications, Adobe Pro, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Suite, and other related applications.
  • Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.
  • Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
  • Possess valid driver’s license and maintain good driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a NACI clearance and Common Access Card.

Nice To Haves

  • Cart maintenance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Be fully aware with all aspects of the daily operation of the transportation department.
  • Track and monitor all handling equipment, which would also include forklifts, man lifts, and scissor lifts in support of SWRMC.
  • Track and update location assignments of all SWRMC vehicles.
  • Record mileage and usage of vehicles and equipment issued through transportation.
  • Maintain and issue HAZMAT, recollect unused HAZMAT and collect HAZMAT waste.
  • Provides support for Government golf cart dispatch and maintenance schedule for Government golf carts.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues with gas/electrical carts.
  • Replace pneumatic tires and align steering columns.
  • Replace batteries, fuses, and lights on electric carts.
  • Repair doors, cart beds and frames.
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment to determine the repairs required for the vehicle or equipment to meet the established serviceability standards.
  • Perform incoming inspections, outgoing inspections, Limited Technical Inspections, accident, and abuse estimates in accordance with established standards. Diagnose the source of trouble and determine the extent of repairs required.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and clean work areas. Practice good housekeeping, tool control, FOD prevention and safety always.
  • Inspect all vehicles and equipment entering shop for maintenance; debrief operators and record discrepancies that may be found in accordance with established standards.
  • Perform minor maintenance in accordance with established standards.
  • Operates a company-owned vehicle (and cellular telephone) to transport self and others in performance of assigned duties; performs operator maintenance as required.
