About The Position

Responsible for coordinating transportation and movement operations necessary to transport employees, residents, documentation and/or materials between various locations (i.e. detention facilities, jails, hospitals, courts, government offices etc.). Ensures the safety and security of the residents and employees while they are being transported.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years' experience in a security capacity
  • High school diploma or possess a GED
  • Must have a valid Tennessee Driver’s License or secure one as of employment date.
  • Must pass NCIC background check.
  • Must be able to obtain a Tennessee Handgun Permit.
  • Must be able to obtain a private armed security license.
  • Must successfully complete 80 hours of basic Corrections training.
  • Must successfully complete 80 hours of firearm training.
  • Must pass chemical agent training and use of force training.
  • Must be able to function in a prison environment.
  • Will be required to pass a drug test and a TB screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class A or Class B with air brake endorsement or Commercial Learner Permit (CLP) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Transports residents safely via passenger vehicles, buses and vans to various locations (courts, medical centers and other specified locations) away from the facility property.
  • Assist in maintaining security and order in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Performs resident accountability throughout the shift (physically account for residents' whereabouts at all times and log this information in the appropriate logs).
  • Monitors activities and behavior of residents during transport and/or while in custody and maintains discipline.
  • Makes periodic unscheduled patrols of the areas, holding/staging areas and escorts in a safe manner.
  • Inspects each transport vehicle and/or individual for contraband including conducting a Tek-84 screening, frisk/pat search and removing all items from the individual’s pockets prior to transport.
  • Acquires and maintains working knowledge of radio, computers and other electronic equipment.
  • Prepares and completes reports such as progress reports and disciplinary and accident reports.
  • Prepares, maintains and reviews various reports and documentation such as booking document transport logs; etc.
  • Reports damaged or missing equipment/inventory to supervisors, monitors vehicle/equipment, reports repair needs repair/maintenance.
  • Ensures the cleaning and sanitizing of all transport vehicles and equipment.
  • Ensure each resident’s name appears on the transport docket paperwork before any transport commences.
  • Completes USMS Trip sheet and paperwork for all USMS transport.
  • Performs other related duties as required or directed.
