About The Position

Wurth Wood Group is a leading supplier of Hardwood Lumber, Plywood, Molding, Cabinet Hardware/Supplies, Laminate, and Building Supplies, and we are seeking an experienced Transportation Specialist for the Richmond, VA branch. The ideal candidate is a hard-working, organized, self-directed, and highly customer service oriented based individual who is dedicated to helping expand the Wurth Wood Group good name. The Transportation Specialist will be required to interact and service our customers and service providers, to ensure a safe and proper delivery of product. The Transportation Specialist should provide the best in class customer service and work as a team with warehouse personnel to ensure all product is delivered in a timely manner. The Transportation Specialist will be responsible for driving a CMV (commercial motor vehicle) and therefore responsible for maintaining an up-to-date CDL license.

Requirements

Maintain a clean and valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B
Maintain a Valid Medical Card.
Maintain forklift certification.
Must be able to be forklift certified.
Must be able and willing to lift up to 75 pounds using proper lifting techniques.
Must be able to strap and secure cargo and properly arrange and balance it within the vehicle.
Have basic knowledge of all DOT regulations.
High standard of professionalism and ethics.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and with written communications.
Ability to interface with customers and employees fostering excellent communication skills and customer service.

Nice To Haves

Experience as a transportation specialist in a related industry, preferred.
Preferred style of teamwork, and collaboration.

Responsibilities

Drive a CMV (commercial motor vehicle) to deliver the product within the local route assigned.
Operating a CMV in different conditions (e.g., highway driving, side/local roads, city/country as well as tight loading and unloading positions.
Perform general housekeeping tasks and maintain the cleanliness of vehicles and other areas as instructed.
Prepare, process, and maintain all necessary transportation documentation & information – both in and out of various operating systems – required for DOT compliance.
Develop strong interaction, in and amongst customers, service providers, and the internal team to ensure fluid, efficient movement of product.
Secure proof of delivery by using a supplied (EPOD) Electronic Proof of Delivery device.
Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints in a timely manner through collaboration with the Operations manager and sales team.
Comply with all applicable safety, transportation regulations, and company policies.
Responsible for maintaining Quality and Safety awareness.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
