About The Position

The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is seeking a bilingual Transportation Services Representative 1 for the Driver and Motor Vehicles Division (DMV) in Hermiston. This role involves assisting the public with driver licenses, vehicle registration, permits, and license plates. Responsibilities include administering tests, collecting fees, providing information on regulations, and conducting behind-the-wheel tests. The position offers training to help employees make decisions based on vehicle laws, agency policies, and regulations. Requirements

Ability to speak and read Spanish fluently.
Two years of public contact/customer service experience which involved dealing with the public in person or by phone providing information about services/programs or explaining and/or applying rules, regulations and procedures.
Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data.
Three months experience collecting money and making change.
Valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record.
Must be able to type at least 30 words per minute with a high level of accuracy.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to work in inclement weather.
Ability to work an irregular schedule.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

Assist the public with obtaining a driver license, registering vehicles, and issuing permits and license plates.
Administer knowledge, skill, and vision tests to potential drivers.
Ensure correct fees are collected.
Provide information about regulations and policies.
Administer behind-the-wheel drive tests.
Help the public register vehicles and apply for permits.
Provide exceptional customer service while following privacy laws.
Communicate clearly with customers from diverse backgrounds to accurately answer complex questions.
Produce photo licenses, instruction permits, and identification cards.
Administer, correct, and explain driver license tests.
Conduct and interpret results of driver vision tests.
Perform physical examinations of vehicles and verify vehicle identification numbers.
Prepare daily bank deposits and account for sensitive inventory.
Occasionally perform relief work in other DMV offices within the region.
